I just purchased some used prefold diapers online. The description said they were mostly lightly stained and a few had noticeable stains. That was the understatement of the year! 21 of the 24 were BROWN and the rest were lightly (but still noticeably) stained. Anyway, I'm going to bleach them once to hopefully get the majority of the stains out. How exactly should I go about doing this?

Try a bleach soak using ¼ cup Clorox® Regular-Bleach per gallon of cool water. Fully submerge the diapers and let soak for 5 minutes, then rinse. Follow up by running the diapers through a regular wash cycle in hot water with detergent + ¾ Clorox® Regular-Bleach. As you are working on restoring the diapers, air dry them so you can evaluate your success. I suspect that the diapers have been tumble dried, which heat-sets stains, so it may require several bleach soaks and washes to thoroughly for thorough whitening.

Does detergents/bleaches affect the absorbency of cloth diapers? or a type of diaper differs in the amount of bleach to be applied compared with another type of diaper?
