Heart-Shaped Mother’s Day Cake

What you'll need to get started:
Cake mix for 2-layer cake
Frosting for 2-layer cake
1 round cake pan
1 square cake pan
Cake platter or cardboard base
Aluminum foil or lace doilies
Cake decorations
Here's the lowdown
1. Prepare your favorite cake mix or batter, making sure you have enough for a two-layer cake.
2. Put half the batter in the square cake pan and half the batter in the round cake pan. Bake as directed and let cool.
3. Prepare a platter, cookie sheet or cardboard base for the cake. It should be about 15” x 15”. Cover with aluminum foil or paper doilies.
4. Place the square layer on the platter so one corner faces down, forming a diamond shape.
5. Cut the round layer in half. Place the cut side of each half against the upper sides of the square layer to form a heart.
6. Frost the cake to cover the seams and decorate with colored frosting, sprinkles, candy hearts or whatever you like.
