Mom’s Almost Homemade Soap

Prep time: 5 minutes to make; 45 minutes to cool off

Let's make sure parents supervise all cooking and craft creative.

What you'll need to get started:

Glycerin soap, clear or white

Soap dye in colors of your choice

Soap or candy molds

Microwave safe liquid measuring cup

Spoon

Here's the lowdown

1. Put soap pieces into a measuring cup and microwave for 20 seconds, then in 10-second intervals until melted.

2. Add drops of dye to add color or mix dyes to make your own colors.

3. Slowly pour the liquid soap into molds. Set aside to harden for 45 minutes.

4. Rinse out measuring cup and repeat process for other colors.

NOTE: To create a tie-dye effect, add a few drops of dye to white soap after you’ve poured it into the molds. Then swirl with a toothpick. For multicolored layers, pour the first color in, let it cool (at least 5 minutes), then pour the second color in over that.
