Back from BlogHer 2011
I’ve just returned from an amazing weekend with 3600 friends. Well, sort of. I just returned from the BlogHer 2011 Conference in San Diego. This is the largest conference for female bloggers to meet, share ideas, hear about each others’ blogs and of course, socialize! My kids were left at home with the Hubs and I was off to join the crowd at the San Diego Convention Center. Usually a bunch of moms without kids and partners for a weekend would be a perfect recipe for a "Moms Gone Wild," but I will just say that I met great fellow-bloggers, had fun experiences and didn't escape without cocktails.
I was travelling with Amanda (a.k.a. Green Mommy) who writes a really cool blog called "Green Mommy in a Plastic World." The photo above was taken the first night before the conference started.
One of the sessions I attended was about writing, and one of the panelists asked the audience, “What is the goal of your blog? Why do you write it?” It was a simple question. But one that I had to think about for a while. Why do I write this blog?
I think Clorox would like me to say that I write this blog to help promote our Clorox products. And while that may be a side-effect of what I do (admittedly, I would like to stay employed!), my reason for blogging is more personal than that.
I really love how this blog allows me the opportunity to share my personal “Mom Moments” alongside all of you. I've learned that it's really a community of fellow mommies that have gotten me through the good, the bad and the puke-covered world of raising kids. Also, working at Clorox, I’ve picked up some great tips that I'm just dying to share with people about how to keep your home healthy. I think health is one of the greatest gifts we can give our family and ourselves so I'm excited that I get to share ideas with you while also hearing your feedback, questions and comments.
I don’t profess to be a parenting nor cleaning expert, nor expect that my experiences are universal. But my hope is that you’ll find some of my blogs interesting, entertaining and maybe even reassuring in their familiarity.
