Hi! I'm Tiffany. When I'm not chasing my son around for diaper changes, convincing my daughter not to wear goggles to bed, or trying to get unidentified stains out of my kids' clothes, I work in the marketing department at Clorox.

What's Your Cleaning Quirk?

This week, I was sitting in a meeting discussing one of Clorox’s bathroom cleaners. Yes, I know, in any place other than the Clorox building, this would be a serious conversation killer.
But during our discussion, I discovered that a lot of us have strange cleaning idiosyncracies. How can we not when, love it or hate it, cleaning is part of our weekly (or, ok in some cases, monthly) lives?
Here are some quirky behaviors I heard that my colleagues themselves admitted:
- Nothing gets my kitchen cleaner than salsa music. When I clean my kitchen, I just have to put it on. The rhythm just gets me moving!
- I have a housecleaner who comes every 2 weeks, but the night before, I run around tidying up my whole house—putting toys away, arranging the kitchen. My husband thinks I’m crazy for cleaning right before the professional comes, but I feel I need to get the clutter out of the way so I’m not totally embarrassed!
- I have a separate sponge for every task… and it’s all color-coded– yellow one for my dishes, blue one for my kitchen counter, pink for my kitchen table…don’t even get me started on all the different sponges I have for cleaning the rest of the house!
Ok, you’ve heard these weird cleaning behaviors…would love to hear yours. Do you have any cleaning quirks?

All the people in the building know when I'm cleaning my flat - it's Drum'n'base shouting through my music system, and I ran across the house like crazy doing 5 jobs at the same time :) Usually it takes up to 4 hours to clean it ALL, but I always leave something for the next time. --------- Here

I also have to clean with an old nite shirt so I won't have to worry about getting bleach on my clothes and so I can feel free to spray and clean everythinf insite. I also like to listen to my favorite music while cleaning the house.... especially listening to the Oldies"

Thanks, Kimberly and Meesha for sharing your quirks! Kimberly: I'm going to start pottytraining my son soon and i just know I'm going to have to increase the disinfecting in the bathroom! Meesha: Kudos for you for keeping that uniform clean everyday. I know it's no small feat to get stains out of kids' clothes.

I guess my quazy quirk would be that i have to wipe down my counters in the kitchen, before I go to bed. I also like to keep a spray bottle of bleach in both of the bathrooms and spray/disenfect the bathroom counters, toilets, etc at least twice week. The bathroom is the most frequent used, especially with three boys!! Not so sure if we can get as clean as we want to be!!

This is just one of many. My son goes to a uniform school-(Blue tops, tan/beige pants). He loves to play outside and being a boy has everything from grass stained/dirt knees to lunch spills. I can't help but to get those stains out of his light colored pants. I will spray them with stain removers, try my own made up stain removers, let them set for a while, wash using a bit of bleach. I will say this, my son always looks clean when he arrives at school.

The only way I like to clean is in a nightgown and with the tv up so I can hear it.

I think I only have one cleaning quirk; if I am going to read a book or study the room that I am doing that in must be clean. I can't focus in a cluttered room. Yolanda Penn Owner, Ethnic Babies LLC
