Hi! I'm Tiffany. When I'm not chasing my son around for diaper changes, convincing my daughter not to wear goggles to bed, or trying to get unidentified stains out of my kids' clothes, I work in the marketing department at Clorox.

Day 1: Extend The Life Of Cut Flowers

Today is day one of my challenge to use Clorox® Bleach every day for 7 days for a different use each day.
OK, I have to admit that I lucked out for two reasons today.
Firstly, some fall floral bouquets were on sale this week, so I decided to buy a bunch to brighten up our home (and have something else on my dining table besides nubby crayons and unidentified food droplets).
And secondly, I could use the Clorox® Regular Bleach trick to keep bouquets fresher: Drop ¼ teaspoon of bleach for each quart of vase water to ensure the water stays clear and free of that nasty smell that starts to brew about a week after the flowers bloom. (I know, I know you’re supposed to change the vase water every day, but anyone who has time for that deserves a medal or probably doesn’t have kids.)
I’ve been doing this trick since the Clorox® Regular Bleach manager tipped me off on this a few years ago. Isn’t that cool? With a couple cents worth of Clorox® Regular bleach, bouquets can last longer and water doesn’t get funky as fast.
Whew, OK, day one was easy. Check in tomorrow for Day #2 of the Clorox® Bleach challenge. And don’t forget to leave a comment during this week-long challenge. One lucky commenter will be randomly selected to win a $100 Visa Gift card!
No Purchase Necessary. Open to legal residents of the 50 United States & DC who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry. Void where prohibited. http://www.clorox.com/legal/promotions/ for full rules. Contest starts 10/20/11 & ends 11/2/11.

I really enoyed reading this post i had no idea you could put bleach in the water to help keep your flowers alive longer.. I have to say i learned something new today, and i'am really enjoying checkng each day for the next post to learn more tips on how to use Clorox inmy home.. I love Clorox and i use it alot and i use diffrent products and i really enjoy knowing that when i clean with Clorox bleach i know that my house is really clean and dont just smell clean.. I dont have to worry about my son touching things in the house and getting sick from it cause i know the clorox had killed the germs.. I also use it in my laundry on our white cloths i have not got to try the Clorox 2 but iam looking forward to going to the store tomorrow and getting some to try.. I heard it works really well.. I use the Clorox on my toliets and sinks this way i know they are really clean and as a mom this means alot to me.. I donate the Clorox wipes to my sons Kindergarten class to help keep the germs out of the class.. So i know when iam sending my son to school that the class is clean really well and not just with that cheap off brand cleaning supplies the school gets.. But i love the product and i will never stop using Clorox and iam looking forward to comeing to the site each and every day to learn more and more tips that will help me around my house.. Thanks Clorox for such amazing product..

I recently found out that you can use Clorox Bleach to aid in getting rid of horrible odors in your bathroom sink overflow. Clog sink with stopper and fill with water. Pour in 1/4 cup bleach into running water as it goes into overflow. I let mine run for a little while, but when I was done the odor had diminished. I plan on doing it again tonight.

wow I figured bleach and live plants wouldn't mix well. I will have to try this I love flowers but so hate the funk that happens in the water. Thanks for this awesome insight! Can't wait for day 2 use.

I have heard of this too, but forgot about it. I think I will try it the next time I get flowers at work. That's when I tend to forget to change the water.

I've heard this before but never tried it. I love fresh flowers and getting them is so rare and wonderful that I want them to last as long as possible. Next time, I will add Clorox.
