Hi! I'm Tiffany. When I'm not chasing my son around for diaper changes, convincing my daughter not to wear goggles to bed, or trying to get unidentified stains out of my kids' clothes, I work in the marketing department at Clorox.

Day 3: Sick Kid

Crud. Max woke up with a runny nose today. I walked into his room this morning and was greeted by my 2.5-year old son and his 2.5-pound nose-booger hanging from his nostril. Instead of his usual chipper “HI MOMMY!” greeting, he honked out, “May I have a tissue, peese?” and then just as I hand it to him, he wipes his nose with his sleeve.
When one kid in my family gets sick, it can be just a matter of days (or moments of contact with a booger-covered sleeve) for someone else in our house to get sick. Not a perfect day for Max … but definitely a ripe day for my Clorox® 7-day bleach challenge!
After putting him to bed tonight, I collected all his plastic toys, stuck them in the kitchen sink and gave them a “bleach bath.” (This was one bath that I didn’t need to chase around my kids for.) I filled the sink with ¾ cup of Clorox® Regular Bleach and a gallon of water and then let those toys sit there for about 5 minutes. Then I just pulled the drain stopper, gave the toys a little rinse and let them drain there overnight.
Fortunately, Max seemed to be feeling better tonight. And I’m feeling good about the disinfected toys. Day #3 and ummm … winning!
Pssst … don’t forget to leave a comment below during this week-long challenge for a chance to be randomly selected to win a $100 Visa Gift card!

Glad the little guy is feeling better! My kids are grown now, but I still keep the Clorox diluted with water in a handly spray container, so when the grandchildren visit, and may have the sniffles (or worse), we can spritz their toys and play surfaces to control the spread of germs.

Glad Max is feeling better. I have had to do the toy bleach bath on a few occasions myself. Thank goodness for Clorox!

I am glad to hear Max is well. I have a love hate relationship with bleach baths. Only because of the amount of toys my children have (lol); but I'd do anything to help keep them healthy.

Glad Max is feeling better. And you aren't kidding with just how quickly they pass it along and not just to siblings they always have to share with momma also.

absolutely agreed! Kids aren't as germ-conscious, especially when they're sick. Definitely a win-win situation since mom doesn't need any sick kids, much less more than 1 sick kid!
