Tiffany, Clorox

Hi! I'm Tiffany. When I'm not chasing my son around for diaper changes, convincing my daughter not to wear goggles to bed, or trying to get unidentified stains out of my kids' clothes, I work in the marketing department at Clorox.

The Toilet Farm

I promised you that I would give you a behind-the-scenes peek at some of the wacky things I’ve seen here at Clorox. And well, I’ve seen some zany stuff!  So here’s an exclusive look at probably one of the weirdest work environments you’ll see in a long time.

This is a photo of one of our Clorox research laboratories:

Toilet Rig from Clorox laboratory

OK, now really. Is that not one of the most wonderfully ridiculous photos you’ve ever seen? Forty toilets. Yes, 40! They’re all lined up in a row and ready “for business” (if you know what I mean.) Only in this case, it really IS a business, and one that Clorox takes pretty seriously.

Known affectionately as “The Toilet Farm,” this is a series of toilets that our scientists over at our Clorox Technical Center use in the research and development of our toilet cleaning products. You see, it’s not enough to test our cleaners on one toilet, you need to test on a whole army of them to make sure the stuff works!

As a potty-training mama, this photo is both my nightmare and incredibly reassuring. It’s a nightmare because I couldn’t imagine having to clean this many toilets after my 2 year old son’s inevitable potty-bowl “misses.” (You moms with boys know what I mean!). But it is also reassuring because if I HAVE to clean my toilet, it’s good to know that the good folks creating these products are definitely hard-core about cleaning, have PhDs in Chemistry and take toilet-cleaning very seriously.

This is probably the only instance when I’m really glad that there are folks at Clorox who have their heads in the toilet for a living. Thank you, you scientists of Bioinorganic Chemistry!

My best bathroom tip is cleaning with Clorox Splashless Bleach is great. I like to have my bucket of hot water and my Clorox Splashless Bleach to tackle the sink and move to the bathtub and clean mold and mildew. After that tackle the Commode with a fresh bucket of hotwater and tackle the handle commode seat, bowl and get another bucket of hotwater and my Clorox Splashless Bleach and clean the wall behind the commode and mop the floor. I am the happiest person ever when I have completely cleaned my bathroom with Clorox Splashless Bleach!! I also have a sense of pride knowing that my bathroom is cleaned from top to bottom all over and MY family or anyone who visits knows this when they walk into my Clorox Bleached bathroom. I USE MY CLOROX EVERY SINGLE DAY!! I have to at least 2 bottles handy.. and if I get low I feel like I have lost my best friend :( and sadly I am low right now I am down to my last bottle and I have to get more! Germs: When my kids and through Dr's office and the media began to tell me what is going around I Immediately start cleaning my bathroom first from top to bottom and my Ktichen, door knobs, handles, etc. ensuring that my family is protected from germs from my Clorox Bleach. THANK YOU CLOROX!!!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH

I like to make a bleach solution with Clorox bleach and use a scrub brush to clean my bathroom's tile floors--yes, I have to get down on my hands and knees, but it's the only way to get the grout clean.

This photo is truly hilarious. If you need to clean this many toilets every day, you'd better believe the stuff works!

I flush after cleaning the toilet, then pour in a little more cleaner and allow it to sit in the bowl until the next flush. This helps tremendously in keeping down both stains and buildup from the hard water in our area.

My tips for a clean bathroom including using Clorox wipes for the little messes on a daily basis, and when it is time to get down and dirty I always put the Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach in the potty first and let is "hang out" in there while I take care of the rest of the room.

I pour a little clorox bleach in the tank of my toliet every so often. I feel like it helps keep down on germs.

My bathroom cleaning tip is, I like to use the Swiffer wet mop (not the one that sprays, but uses the moistened cloths) to wash the walls and ceiling. It's much less messy than a bucket of water and a sponge/rag, and also makes it easier to get the ceiling and cuts the time down a lot! And if you have a small bathroom, which I do, you can take one of the bars out to make the handle shorter, to be able to maneuver better.
