Tiffany, Clorox

Hi! I'm Tiffany. When I'm not chasing my son around for diaper changes, convincing my daughter not to wear goggles to bed, or trying to get unidentified stains out of my kids' clothes, I work in the marketing department at Clorox.

What’s Your Cleaning Confession?

We all have dirty little secrets when it comes to cleaning, because let’s face it, as a mom, it’s hard to keep a perfect house without some trade-offs. Here are a few of mine. What are yours? Share your confession below for a chance to win a $100 gift card.

1)   I sometimes clean up after my kids because it’s easier than getting them to clean up after themselves.

As much as I’d love to take every opportunity to teach my kids to clean up after themselves, I admit that sometimes it’s just less stressful to pick up after them than to undergo the painstaking process of convincing them to clean up their own messes. As I type this, my living room floor is littered with wooden trains because tonight I preferred to get my preschooler in bed rather than face the 20-minute challenge of convincing my son that Thomas and Gordon didn't want to go for another race around the track.

2)   I find weird stuff in my washing machine.

I know I’m supposed to diligently check and empty pockets before items go into the washer, but either it’s really hard to do laundry with a preschooler affixed to one’s leg, or I’m just not a laundry expert As a result, I have found some strange things in my washing machine. Tissue wads and coins are pretty typical for many. But once I also found an entire diaper (clean as a whistle, I might add!), which was clearly tossed into the hamper along with the dirty sweatpants it resided in. It was also clear evidence that I do not sort laundry thoroughly enough.   I’ve also found soggy stickers, plastic toys from local fast food chains and too many rocks to count. Some days it’s like my washing machine is where random objects go to die.

3)  I’ve been known to “short cut” when company comes.

Instead of cleaning the bathroom, I just scrub the faucets till they shine because hey, a shiny faucet makes it seem like the rest of my bathroom is clean, right?  I also make sure the toilet isn’t covered with any potty training mishaps because we all know that a dirty toilet is the most “guest-noticeable” gross-out in a bathroom.  And who needs a dead giveaway that you didn’t painstakingly clean up the place before they arrived?

I confess that I like a really clean house. I use a little Clorox in my dishwasher to remove coffee stains from cups. It also helps to kill germs when someone is sick in the house. I put a little Clorox in a squirt bottle and top it off with water. I use it to disinfect my sinks and counter tops. I also use Clorox in the squirt bottle to remove green growth on my deck in the spring when we get a lot of rain. My kids tease me that they think I have OCD and swear they could never have a party or other kids over with out me knowing because just a moment in the house and I'd know. No matter how much they picked up and cleaned up.

I have a habit of stashing mail and other odds and ends in a basket to quickly clear clutter. It makes me feel like I accomplished something. But I forget about the basket until its overflowing, sometimes I don't open my mail until weeks later!! Oh, and I cheat to quickly clean the bathroom floors by using Clorox wipes. Floor cleaned, germs killed. :)

    1. Cleaning secret: To remove stains including newborn baby poo, saturate with Shout, scrub in some Clorox bleach pen, and rinse immediately so it doesn't bleach colored fabric. Throw in washing machine. Good as new. 2. Dirty secret: Last week, I dug Thomas the Train out of a poopy toilet TWICE. Thank God for kitchen tongs and Clorox bleach. If it were up to me, I'd be throwing it away, but kids don't see things the same way you do. lol

I've been known to throw all the loose ends around the house into a laundry basket when company is coming. The problem is that with them stashed in a closet, those items are out of sight, out of mind and rarely get put away promptly.

I love couponing and grocery shopping. I'm very organized at it. But I HATE putting things away. I make my husband and the kids do it.

I am a closet and drawer stuffer. To clean up in a hurry I put what I can in a closet and everything off the kitchen counter goes in a drawer. One whole room in our house is full of toys. My kids have way too many so we just pick them up and throw them in that room. Then there's the quick dusting and vacuuming. I think pour Lavender scent clorox down the kitchen drains to freshen it up. Then every other month when I have a few days off I go back and clean up what I've stashed everywhere.

I clean the sink with Clorox so when my hubby gets home from work he opens the front door and thinks I have been cleaning the house squeaky clean :) he immediately recognizes the Clorox smell and I leave the bottle on the counter to remind him that I got the house all sparkly just for him

I use Clorox wipes on everything! A quick and easy way to keep on top of cleaning, and great for quick clean-ups when unexpected guests arrive!
