To Clean and Deodorize: If your HE washer has a maintenance cycle, follow the manufacturer's recommendation. If your HE washer doesn't have a maintenance cycle or you have a Regular washer, you may perform this function manually. Select the hot water setting and the extra rinse option, if available. Fill the machine bleach dispenser to the maximum level with Clorox® Washing Machine Cleaner. Allow the washer to run a complete cycle. If your HE washer does not have a second rinse option, manually select an additional rinse cycle to ensure there is no product left in the machine.
*Always read and follow precautions and usage directions before using cleaning products. Store out of reach of children.
Can I safely use Clorox® Washing Machine Cleaner around children, pets and pregnant women?
Clorox's answer:
Yes. Used as directed, Clorox® Washing Machine Cleaner shouldn’t pose hazards to your pets, children or pregnant women. In general, it's a good idea to remove pets and children from an area when cleaning it and to follow label precautionary instructions. When out of use, as with many household cleaners, you should keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Washing machines collect a lot of dirt and soil during the laundry load. Most of this dirt and soil is washed away with the water in each load, but gradually over time a buildup of dirt can occur. Often times you become aware of this dirt and soil buildup because of an unpleasant odor in your machine. Using Clorox® Washing Machine Cleaner monthly actually helps freshen your machine so that you have a clean base for doing laundry. Most high efficiency machines actually have a "Maintenance Cycle" to encourage you to clean your machine, but the same dirt can build up in a traditional top-loading machine. If your machine does not contain a "Maintenance Cycle", you can run a cycle manually. See below for more information.
