Funding and/or Project coordinationThe reports and presentations as well as the agenda and the list of attendees are now available at the website of the EU Photonics Unit.
Call 2 of the ICT programme includes research in the area of photonics components and subsystems. The Call is expected to open on 15 May 2007 and to close on 9 October 2007.
To prepare for this Call, an Information Day on Photonics was held in Brussels on April 26th 2007.
Europe intensifies support for photonics

Photonics have been given a firm place in the EU's 7th Framework Programme (FP7). The European Commission plans to create a new unit dedicated to photonics and to increase funding for the enabling technology by more than 40% (90 million Euro) for photonics in the years 2007-08. These were the positive results that the Photonics21 European Technology Platform presented today at its annual meeting in Brussels.
